Jerry's Restaurant
About This Spot
Jerry’s Restaurant is the kind of place that welcomes you with the comforting hum of lively conversation and the inviting scent of homemade cooking. Nestled along US-190 in Onalaska, this unpretentious eatery feels like a cherished local retreat—a spot where the pace slows enough to savor familiar flavors and friendly moments. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, filled with the quiet buzz of families, friends catching up, and regulars who settle in like old neighbors.
Walking through the door, you’re met with a sense of genuine simplicity—wooden tables, soft lighting, and the subtle clatter from a busy kitchen where classic American dishes are prepared with care. It’s a place where food is more than just a meal; it’s a reminder of home-cooked traditions and shared stories around the table. Whether it’s the satisfying crunch of onion rings or the tender, crisp coating on a chicken fried steak, the flavors here lean into that heartfelt, homemade quality.
The menu reflects a thoughtful balance of hearty comfort and everyday indulgence. Guests often find themselves lingering over warm yeast rolls fresh from the oven, or savoring dishes where every side feels like it was chosen to complement the main—whether that’s a generous baked potato or the steady all-American burger. There’s a quiet pride in each plate, from catfish dinners to the simpler joys of a club sandwich or a biscuit warmed just right. Longevity and care are palpable, especially in moments when the oldest recipes meet the newest additions that still feel right at home here.
Jerry’s isn’t flashy, but that’s part of its charm. The kind of place where waitstaff remember your preferences without being intrusive, and where each bite invites you to slow down and enjoy a bit of genuine Texas hospitality. It’s a humble destination for travelers passing through, but also a dependable spot that locals return to—drawn by that rare balance between comfort and honest cooking.

Our friends invited us to have lunch with them at Jerry’s. They had a great selection and great prices. The service was excellent and the waitress was friendly and helpful. I had the chicken bacon on rye with fries and my husband had the special - roast beef with gravy with a choice of three sides and a dessert. The food was delicious and the amount generous.

Food was impeccable! Perfect cozy, mom and pop you could tell everything was homemade. We stumbled upon this restaurant just driving through town but we plan on making this a normal restaurant on our rotation despite being about an hour from the house!

My first time at this little country diner. Better than expected. Prices average. Food and service was excellent. I will be eating there again on my next trip to Onalaska soon. Little hidden Gem of a cafe. I highly recommend this place.

We stopped her a few years ago with friends we were visiting, the food is good. Home cooking at its best. The homemade rolls are reminiscent of the rolls the ladies in the elementary school made every week.

The chicken fried steak lives up to the hype. Highly recommended. Its nice and cozy here, unless its filled with people of course.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Delicious Food, Great Atmosphere, and Something for Everyone!” We had such a wonderful experience at Jerry’s Restaurant in Onalaska, TX! I ordered the catfish po’ boy, and it was incredibly fresh — the bread was soft and flavorful, and the tartar sauce on the side was perfect. We also enjoyed a basket of warm biscuits with their white country gravy, and let me tell you… amazing. I couldn’t resist ordering the fried green tomatoes (because I love them), and they did not disappoint — crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband got the chicken fried steak, and of course I had to try a bite… it was excellent. Our two picky eaters gave their full approval to the jumbo burger and popcorn chicken, which says a lot! The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly, and everything came out hot and fresh. I grabbed two slices of pie to go, and even after running errands, they held their shape perfectly — and tasted just as amazing when we finally got home. Highly recommend Jerry’s if you’re looking for a satisfying, home-style meal that hits the spot!
